Chemical Quality Control Manager

 

The Quality Control Department Manager will administer the department and supporting functions of the company as well as maintain and administer the quality control of both incoming and outgoing chemicals used by or manufactured by the company.  Position will also audit appropriate procedures and protocols of the company on a routine basis and recommend areas for improvement and perform routine and ad-hoc analysis as required.  The goal for the Quality Control Department is to offer and track analytical services to our internal processes as well as to third parties in an accurate and timely manner. Rapid turnaround time with results and exceptional customer service is expected to be the norm.  Position is full time offering benefits of health, dental, vision and life.

 

Obiter Research is a privately owned chemical research and manufacturing company. All employees at Obiter Research are expected to be available during normal business hours; from 8 AM to 5 PM or as necessary to complete project goals, customer deadlines and company protocols. It is important that all scientists insure the continued success of the company by being project driven and go beyond the minimal expectations of the company and the customer. Position requires the ability to work both independently and within a team environment on assigned projects with minimal supervision and obtain quality results. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe work place, follow common safety practices and chemical hygiene plan with strong understanding and commitment to safe lab practice and chemical handling and to positively collaborate with fellow Chemists.

 

The individual must have a working knowledge of analytical chemistry with 3-5 years of industry experience.  Must have demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to multitask and problem solve. Experience working in a fast-paced environment with proven track record of balancing multiple projects and delivering needed business results. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Work is performed with exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment provided.

  • Analyze samples with appropriate technique NMR, HPLC, MS, GC, Wet chemistry methods

  • Preparation of Certificate of Analysis, characterize compounds, familiarity with GMP protocols

  • Preparation and processing of samples for analysis and generating retained sample catalog

  • Design tests to meet customer needs

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, ChemDraw and Scifinder

The successful candidate will participate in research and developing products for manufacturing, involving the use of stills, solvent recovery, recrystallization and centrifugal filtering.  Candidate will perform kilo scale reactions following batch records to meet company’s and customer’s expectations and assist with production project management and customer relations. Must posses demonstrated mechanical skills, have experience with reactors/reactions, the ability to multitask with good organization, problem solving and communication skills. Experience working in a fast-paced environment with proven track record of balancing multiple projects and delivering needed results.  Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Work is performed in both lab and manufacturing environments with exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment provided.
